Cambridge Who’s Who Supporting CMF

The Cambridge Who’s Who Corporate Giving Program elected to donate to the CMF because of the work the Fund does to help seriously ill children in and around the New York community. As part of the Cambridge Who’s Who Corporate Giving Board’s mission to give back to the community, a certain portion of donated funds are set aside to benefit local and regional communities surrounding the Cambridge Who’s Who headquarters in Uniondale, NY.

Established in 1966, the CMF was created to raise funds needed to construct a children’s hospital in the New York area. Treatment for ill children required parents to travel out of the metropolitan area, often at great cost and inconvenience. After winning legislative authorization and raising the necessary funds, Schneider Children’s Hospital was finally opened in 1983. Today, the Schneider Children’s Hospital is a part of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, which consists of 18 hospitals, making it the nation’s third-largest hospital system.

Today, the CMF continues to be a major contributor to Schneider’s Children Hospital and also works toward the advancement of medical care for young patients by providing the hospital with necessary enhancements, technology and support. Cambridge Who’s Who is happy to contribute to the CMF’s support of many hospital programs including the Institute for Childhood Asthma Care Center, Heart and Lung Center, Pediatric Emergency Department, Pet Therapy and Heather Fessler Music Therapy Program.

In an effort to make the hospital more child-friendly, the CMF also started the Child Life Program. This program helps to minimize any stress patients incur due to illness or injury. Child Life Specialists use programs such as the clown care unit and pet and music therapy to make the hospital more comfortable for children.

As there is no better place to begin helping others than in the community where one lives or works, Cambridge Who’s Who has made it a priority to support the efforts of the CMF because it enhances the lives of seriously ill children who live in Long Island, NY. The Cambridge Who’s Who Corporate Giving Board is honored to be a part of such a worthy cause and looks forward to contributing annually for many years to come. Children are the leaders of our future and Cambridge Who’s Who feels responsible for and committed to making a difference in the lives of children in Long Island and beyond.
