Cambridge Who’s Who member Teresa Butler is the founder and president of Home on the Range Ministries International, Inc., a charitable organization that provides permanent residences to impoverished orphans and widows throughout the world. In existence for the past three years, Home on the Range has presented otherwise unattainable opportunities to these people, empowering them to live lives of possibility. This year, the organization traveled to Catacamas, Honduras, where Pastor Nelson – representing the church Centro Critiano Encuentro – generously donated three acres of land to Home on the Range. The two organizations will collaborate in the near future to build a home for orphaned children. In 2007, Home on the Range purchased six acres of land in Burundi, Africa to donate to a pastor and his wife who have taken in 28 orphans. After extensive fundraising efforts, construction is finally under way there and homes are currently being built.
The mission of Home on the Range Ministries International, Inc. is to “comfort the hurting, the grieving and the lonely by providing permanent homes on farms for orphans and destitute widows, reducing the number of children living on the streets and creating opportunities for children to see their dreams come true.” Home on the Range believes that partnership is a compelling formula for success. For this reason, they have joined forces with several benevolent organizations who share their vision of spreading hope to women and children who call the streets their home, including Centro Cristiano Encuentro in Catacamas, Honduras; Hands and Feet Ministry in Atlanta, Georgia; Mission International in Dundee City, Scotland; and Iglesia Amanacer in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Teresa Butler, who is an Advisory Board member of the International Christian Dance Fellowship, became involved in her profession through her love for adventure and meeting people. While she recognized at the age of 14 that she would someday work at an orphanage, it was not until many years later – 1989, to be exact – that she began to follow through with her ambitions. Since then, the highlight of her career has been raising the funds to purchase the land in Burundi, Africa for the orphaned children. In the near future, Ms. Butler hopes to expand her non-profit organization to all continents, endowing orphaned children and poverty-stricken widows with housing where they can come together in a safe and permanent environment and support each others’ needs.
